HP Indigo structure
The HP Indigo division provides best-in-class web-fed and sheetfed digital presses for a broad range of applications including direct marketing and transpromotional printing, labels and packaging converting, general commercial printing, publishing and books on demand and photo specialty printing. HP Indigo products are sold through a combination of direct sales organisations and a network of distributors throughout the world.
HP Indigo presses
HP Indigo presses use liquid electrophotographic printing (LEP), a process combining the benefits of high-performance digital imaging technology with a liquid ink offset process. LEP with HP Indigo presses also offers unique colour-matching benefits, with a wide color gamut through four-, six- or seven-colour Pantone-licensed emulation as well as off-press mixing of true Pantone-licensed spot colours.
There are two distinct product families in the HP Indigo digital press line: Commercial printing presses and Industrial printing presses.
Commercial printing presses
- The HP Indigo press 3500 offers outstanding production colour value and productivity, with key features such as adjustment-free paper handling and simplified operation with the HP Indigo Press Production Manager digital front end. The press is an affordable, offset-quality solution offering state-of-the-art colour management with four- and six-colour Pantone-licensed emulations, ICC profiling, and HP Indigo adaptive halftone technology for enhanced line work printing.
- The HP Indigo press 5500, the fastest-selling press in the history of HP, helps increase utilisation and reduce operating costs to offer high productivity and profit potential. Offering print resolutions up to 1,200 dots per inch, the press has a four-colour speed of 68 A4-size pages per minute (ppm), supports a wide range of economical, off-the-shelf media and can print on thicker media for folding carton applications through an optional upgrade.
- The HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press delivers fast production speeds of 120 high-quality four-colour A4-size ppm and is optimised to print large numbers of static jobs with run lengths ranging from one copy into the thousands, as well as variable-data printing (VDP) work requiring the "every page is different" capabilities of digital.
- The HP Indigo 7000 offers low total cost of ownership for customers exceeding the 1-million-page level in monthly volumes, significantly increasing the break-even point against offset printing. The HP Indigo press w3250 is a twin-engine digital web press that achieves speeds of up to 136 ppm when printing four colours and up to 272ppm for two colours. Designed for high-volume direct marketing and publishing applications, its highly reliable web-handling system accommodates a wide range of substrates, including light weight paper stocks, for the direct mail industry.

The press supports Advanced Function PresentationTM/Intelligent Printer Data Streams (AFP/IPDS) content used in transactional and transpromotional printing, and has a larger 317mm x 980mm image area that enables greater throughput with enhanced impositioning.
Industrial printing presses
- The HP Indigo press s2000 is a sheetfed press designed for specialty printing. It uses HP Indigo’s one-shot colour technology to print on plastic sheets for the production of specialty products such as graphic attachments, plastic cards, mouse pads and panels for appliances, computers, switches, keypads and dials.
- Designed for cost-effective, high-quality label, flexible packaging and shrink sleeve converting on jobs up to 2,000 linear metres, the HP Indigo press ws4500 is a robust, reliable production device that offers a fully automated workflow as well as enhanced colour capabilities.
